He Was Left Behind When the Encampment Came Down — Now He Has Somewhere to Go

Left Behind When the Encampment Came Down

When a homeless encampment in Perris, California was torn down, one resident didn't leave with everyone else. A dog was found still locked in a kennel behind a chain-link fence — no food, no water, and nowhere to go.

We Could Feed Him. We Couldn't Take Him.

Ender's Wish Foundation got him food, fresh water, and some care on the spot. But the hardest part was leaving him there anyway — we had nowhere safe to bring him, and the site was actively being demolished.

So we did the only other thing we could: we asked for help.

"We need to get this boy out of there. We just need somewhere for him to go."

We shared his story and asked our community to share it further, tag rescues, comment, and reach out to anyone who might be able to help.

Two Rescues Said Yes

Two days later, we could finally say it: foster found.

This happened because The Comeback Pack and Feeding Perris Strays stepped up alongside Ender's Wish Foundation to get him somewhere safe — three organizations, one dog, and a community that refused to look the other way.

He Won't Be Forgotten

He was left behind. But he won't be forgotten.

Thank you to everyone who shared his story, tagged someone, reached out, or helped get his face in front of the right person. This is what happens when a community doesn't look away.
